Wedding Etiquette || Tipping your Wedding Professionals

What Do I Tip My Wedding Pros- - Taylor'd Events Group - Wedding Etiquette by Seattle Wedding Planner

As a trusted resource and guide throughout the planning process, we are often the confidants that clients reach out to in those final days to ask about what is customary for tipping wedding professionals. After searching out as many resources as possible, we hope that the thoughts below will be a trusted resource for not only our couple’s but any couple’s getting married. Knowing who, how much and when to tip your wedding pros can be a tricky situation.

I have pulled together a list of expected and recommended vendors to tip, but let’s take a moment to remember the purpose of wedding tips. You should opt to give your vendors a tip because you felt you couldn’t have had your day be as perfect without them. Every vendor’s goal is to go above and beyond for their couples and make your day as smooth as possible.

Some Final Tipping Tips

  • Dig out all of those contracts and look through. Mark down anyone that has already included a gratuity in their contract. Better yet, if you are reading this early in the planning process, make notes in your planning files on who automatically includes the gratuity in their contract.
  • Guests never tip at a wedding. Check in with any vendors that would normally receive a tip such as the bartenders or wait staff, even the valet if you are providing valet services. Inform these vendors that you will be tipping them directly.
  • My suggestion is always to put the gratuities in sealed and labeled envelopes a few days before the wedding. If you are working with us, bring those envelopes to rehearsal and we will hand them out on the day-of the wedding. If you are reading this, and don’t have a coordinator ask a family member or friend to handle this task.

Until next time,

Kinder Ink is offering a unique service that allows you to create a personalized handwriting font and save you hours after your wedding when in the midst of the thank you note grind. Guests then met some of the area’s best wedding pros – Those that were key in the styled shoot we pulled together for that day were The Popes Photography, Kat St John Makeup and Beauty, Frankie & Maude, Everling Jewelry, Unified Cinematic Wedding Videography and CORT Party Rentals.

All of this was topped with the STUNNING blooms by Bleedfoot Florals. We got asked a million times what the name of those dusty pink roses are – I can’t tell you, but they stole our heart. We also love the asymmetric climbing greenery used to bring some drama to the ceremony.

Together with Bleedfoot Florals, Taylor’d Events designed a Minimal, yet Dramatic look with modern overtones showcasing the versatility of this space and the ability to mix the modern with the historic. Draping softened and separated this spacious venue into a variety of distinct areas and showcasing the versatility of the space.

We were lucky enough to be able to showcase some of CORT Party Rental’s new products – namely the Harley Chairs and Panama Linens. These gorgeous items set the base for us to build upon with the modern and simple White Classic Coupe Dishware and Pure Glassware. The cherry-on-top of this table was the Urban Slate Flatware, because who doesn’t love a dramatic, yet minimal touch of black on the tables?

Lucky to have one of the region’s best in front of the soundboard all day long. Kris McKoskery DJ and MC set the mood and we couldn’t be more thankful for his expertise.

The Cakewalk Shop poured hours of time into their three unique cake designs just for the show. Our favorite was the marble inspired cake. Guests, of course, had to stop by for a sample and weren’t disappointed by their creative flavor offerings and overall delicious AND beautiful cakes.

Thanks to everyone that joined us for the 2017 Weddings in Woodinville Show. It is such a labor of love for every wedding pro involved to pull off something inspiring and we hope that you loved it as much as we did.

All about Brittney | Seattle Wedding Planner

Oh, Hey Brittney!
Let take a moment to learn a bit more about what Brittney’s life
when she isn’t planning weddings.

I can’t believe it has taken me this long to slow down for a second and tell you about this awesome gal. Taylor’d Events Group’s Associate Wedding Planner – BRITTNEY! Let me tell you a little story about the first wedding Brittney did with me [Hi everyone! Alex here.]

Brittney reached out like many wonderful aspiring planners wanting to connect and learn more about what we do. Well friends, it was a wedding week for me over here and we had an emergency on our team. Brittney happened to email on a Wednesday, and I emailed her back saying “Want to be an extra set of hands at my wedding this weekend?” She said YES (not to the dress, in this case). I had another one of our team members who had to stay behind at the reception venue, so Brittney was with me the whole day. I emailed her on the way to the reception venue early that morning asking her to take the document I just emailed her to the front desk team and ask them to print the documents for us. A few minutes later, I walked into the reception space with my arms FULL of decor and was greeted with “Hi, my name is Brittney, but you don’t care about that right now. Can I take all that stuff for you?” Just like that, she was magic.

Brittney is one of the most intuitive people I know. She is always noticing the littlest things on the wedding day — The Bride needing a few quiet moments. The groom’s nervous energy before he walks down the aisle. Father of the Bride needing a couple more minutes to collect his thoughts before a toast. I adore watching her adjust a wedding day to be the perfect fit for her couples.

The practical solution to your leftover Wedding Décor || HopeChest

HopeChest 2017 | Taylor'd Events | Seattle Wedding Planner | What to do with your leftover Wedding Decor?

We talked as a team and these two questions keep coming up::

HopeChest 2017 | Taylor'd Events | Seattle Wedding Planner | Where can I find used wedding decor?

Well friends, I’ve got the answer for you. The practical solution to your leftover Wedding Décor is HopeChest. We have been helping the lovely pros on the Hope Chest Committee for Get Hitched, Give Hope pull together for this event for the past two years. It’s one we really love being a part of because we know how much waste can come from a wedding day. Nothing breaks our heart more than throwing away perfectly useable items. The best part, in our opinion, is that 100% of the proceeds from this event go to The Dream Foundation.

Let’s also take a moment and talk about donations. Did you get married and you still have boxes of leftover wedding items collecting dust in your garage? We accept donations year-around! Shoot us an email and we will get you all connected with all the right people to donate your goods. Even better, those are a tax write-off people!

Hope Chest is just a Win-Win-Win-Win. Reduce your clutter, save some dollar bills, skip dumping these gently-loved items in the trash and save the environment, and finally great for your hearts because it’s ALL for charity.

Who? What? Where? So happy you asked!

Elegant and Timeless Wedding | Sarah + Nic

Sarah and Nic were set on having an elegant and timeless affair. After searching in both Seattle and California for their venue and coming up empty handed, Sarah and Nic decided it was time to bring in some help. Jen was happy to cut the clutter and search out a timeless venue– one that was unique and hopefully one that guests hadn’t attended a wedding at prior. Finding The Sunset Club was fate. This hidden gem was founded in 1913 and those gorgeous walls are original to the building and hand painted. They really are stunning and you have to see them in person to appreciate just how detailed they really are.

The day started off with Sarah and Nic surrounded by their nearest and dearest, followed by a ceremony at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sammamish.

Every detail  of their attire was thought out to be meaningful, timeless and elegant. It all came together like a dream.

Sarah and Nic opted to not see each other before the ceremony. Instead they shared a prayer and prepared themselves for all the emotion of the ceremony.

Talk about a first look experience. We don’t usually encourage skipping the first look for seeing each other when you walk down the aisle, but when we do, this photo is exactly what we are hoping for.

Nic’s family has a tradition of a gifting a family ring to every child on their 18th birthday. Instead of a more traditional wedding band, Sarah opted for a ring to go along with this tradition.

This groom has style! He opted for a slight outfit change and entered the reception in a white dinner jacket.

With so many details at the Sunset Club, there was careful consideration on elements that would elevate the overall aesthetic. This ornate cake from Midori Bakery was truly a show stopper.

Intimate Winery Wedding | Grace + Jason

Intimate. Not just because we were a small group of 35, but also because every detail of this Intimate Outdoor Winery Wedding was thought about with the guests in mind. When Grace and Jason reached out to us they had two worries. They were planning their wedding from across the world amidst long distance moves, new jobs, and everyday stresses. They were also asking all of their guests to make the trip from as close as Detroit and as far away as Beijing.

If they were coming all that way, the trip had to be worth it.

We pulled together a top notch team of vendors. All teammates who know how to delight the taste buds, serenade the crowd, and inspire with the perfect blooms. Every detail was thought of.

I am elated to show off the beautiful images from Scott and Ashlee of O’Malley Photographers! Between those two and the team over at Kaleb Norman James Designs, every aspect was meticulously curated and documented for many years to come.
